Clear Liquid Diet
It is sometimes necessary to give the gastrointestinal tract time to rest, for example before or after a surgery, when certain gastrointestinal problems occur or before diagnostic procedures. Such diet should not last more than 2 to 3 days. The patient should only eat foods that are completely absorbed and leave no residue in the intestine, such as:
Soups: Thin broths and consomme.
Desserts and sweets: Hard candy, honey, ice pop, plain fruit gelatin (Jell-O).
Beverages: Water, soft drinks, tea or coffee without milk, thin fruit juice.
*** Because they leave residue, milk and fruit juices with pulp must be avoided. ***
Always watch your diet: it has a strong impact on your health!
